Kasabian and Baroness save the day

Blue Record - Baroness

The West Ryder Pauper Asylum - Kasabian

Today was one of those awful days that one just wishes would come to an end as quickly as possible. Besides missing out on an important lecture and a tutorial (I get the periods muddled sometimes), I also bumped into no less than three people that I really didn't want to see and, worst of all, lost my aviators. Two fantastic albums however, helped me survive the day: Blue Record - Baroness and The West Ryder Pauper Asylum - Kasabian. I kept them blaring in the car and through my headphones all day in an attempt to drown out the gloomy reality- and it worked like a bomb. By now I have listened to each song at least four or five times and they get better every time I listen to them- most certainly a major indication of a good song. So I recommend that you download them now, if you don't have them yet.

Run- Ben Kweller

Prepare yourself for some amazingness. This is a lovely song that I like listening to on the last long summer evenings at the beach. Love songs have the potential to be revoltingly soppy, but Kweller's voice is so unseemly and modest that this song is safe to listen to without feeling like a retard. The whole album is fantastic actually, so I think Ben will be one of my new favourites. Besides, he's kind of cute so that's a bonus.

All Saints

All Saints

As worn by Chloƫ Sevigny

Just look at them!

I have been lusting after a pair of military style boots for a while now. Only a couple of weeks ago however, whilst chatting to a beloved friend of mine from Australia, did I decide exactly what boot it would be. We were talking about boots in general (it must have had to do with the cold!), when my friend dropped Doc Martens into the conversation- and I realised that they were exactly what I was looking for...I just hadn't thought of them. She went on to mention All Saints (which I admit, I had never heard of) and them too I find not too shabby. I love how they are the perfect combination of hardcore rocker type boots and pirates boots with buckles et al. Well now I am left with one dilemma only: to find either of them in South Africa, which I am sure will prove to be an impossibility. I am therefore considering to order them from overseas, no jokes. And by the way, how well does ChloĆ« Sevigny wear those boots?! She's fantastic! Enjoy.

The Beauty

Ah yes. Angelina. I love her. Actually no, I adore her. She is beautiful beyond words and talented too. These photographs are from Beyond Borders (how well does she pull off the Ushanka hat?) and Girl Interrupted (how well does she pull off crazy!!). She manages to exude this amazing sexuality, while at the same time seeming classy yet mysterious.

Every Day Is Exactly the Same

This is a song I love. LOVE love. Every Day Is Exactly The Same by Nine Inch Nails. I was introduced to it through the movie Wanted, which is a movie I love. It may not be the most realistic of movies, but that is totally beside the point: it is excellently filmed and had fantastic action scenes. This brings me to a person, actress more specifically, that I love : Angelina Jolie. I always wrote her off as just another Hollywood actress whoring her good looks, but since I watched Girl Interrupted, I am in awe of her...but that I will leave for another time...

An amazing photograph I found, taken a few decades back at Longbeach (I think), Cape Town. I find it rather successfully captures the essence of longboarding: a relaxed, elegant style.

Blog launch

So. I have come to the conclusion that, in addition to my travel blog, I need a space in the web to share with you the things I love.

I think it is a great idea to share beautiful images, good buys, restaurant tips and other finds with the public. Also I find pleasure in doing so, so maybe this is more for myself than anyone else...
