The thunder, perfect mind

Daria Werbowy reciting extracts from a Nag Hammadi text. It's quite perfect: her modest voice, the gentle background music, her youthful beauty, her lanky limbs...and then of course, the clothing! I think what I enjoy most is that her voice is so perfectly neutral: not pretentious, nor too airy.

ABBEY LEE KERSHAW

Abbey Lee Kershaw: one of fashion's favourite at the moment and it's not hard to see why. She just has something tame but wild, cute but raunchy, pretty but chiseled. Above is a selection of some of her best photos. Enjoy, and be sure to watch the video...amazing!!

(The last one is my favourite by the way...)

PLASTIC BEACH!

Plastic Beach-Gorillaz

Initially I was very much in two minds about this album. It is so insanely different from anything I've heard before, which makes it hard to place, and even harder to rate.

Now, however, after having listened to it several times, I'm loving it! Infact it's all I'm listening to at the moment. I love how the Gorillaz are so susceptible to change, and so extremely innovative. They also collaborated with some very cool artists on this album, among others Kano, Mos Def, De La Soul, The Lebanses National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music (!). My favourite at the moment is Sweepstakes ft Mos Def (anything with Mos Def has got to be good ;)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSDJtz5RzRI

And then of course the album's cover is too sick...

Naked

These I took out of an old Vogue. I find the shoot very beautiful. The way the light lets everything seem golden and enhances the deep, natural(!)* brown skin tones of the models. The way they seem so confident, although they are baring (nearly) everything. The way they seem so aloof, but comfortable in each other's company. And then of course the amazing bags! And shoes! And yes those are my fingers in the top image, but I couldn't be bothered cutting them out :)

* I write natural! with an exclamation mark because so many people here have horrid orange fake tans. It is refreshing to see a beautiful natural brown as above.

Kasabian and Baroness save the day

Blue Record - Baroness

The West Ryder Pauper Asylum - Kasabian

Today was one of those awful days that one just wishes would come to an end as quickly as possible. Besides missing out on an important lecture and a tutorial (I get the periods muddled sometimes), I also bumped into no less than three people that I really didn't want to see and, worst of all, lost my aviators. Two fantastic albums however, helped me survive the day: Blue Record - Baroness and The West Ryder Pauper Asylum - Kasabian. I kept them blaring in the car and through my headphones all day in an attempt to drown out the gloomy reality- and it worked like a bomb. By now I have listened to each song at least four or five times and they get better every time I listen to them- most certainly a major indication of a good song. So I recommend that you download them now, if you don't have them yet.

Lovesong

Run- Ben Kweller

Prepare yourself for some amazingness. This is a lovely song that I like listening to on the last long summer evenings at the beach. Love songs have the potential to be revoltingly soppy, but Kweller's voice is so unseemly and modest that this song is safe to listen to without feeling like a retard. The whole album is fantastic actually, so I think Ben will be one of my new favourites. Besides, he's kind of cute so that's a bonus.
